Eighteen holes is a big chunk of a day. Between the drive, the warm-up and the round itself, a lot of golfers just stop playing because they can’t find the time. A good 9-hole course fixes that. Here’s why more players around Toledo are choosing a quick nine, and what to expect at Quarry Ridge.
The case for nine holes
It fits your schedule. Play before work, on a long lunch, or after dinner on a summer evening.
It’s easier on your wallet. Walking green fees at Quarry Ridge are $14 on weekdays and $16 on weekends, with junior and senior rates of $13 and $15. A cart is $8.
It’s the best way to learn. Beginners can play a full round without getting worn out or holding up a long line of groups behind them.
It still tests your game. A well-designed nine makes you hit every club in the bag.
About the Quarry Ridge course
Quarry Ridge is a par 33 layout of about 2,200 yards, with a mix of par 3s and par 4s. Expect:
- Multiple sets of tees, so beginners, juniors and seasoned players can each pick the right challenge
- Sand bunkers and water hazards that reward smart decisions
- Bentgrass greens that roll true but hide more break than you’d guess
- New trees framing the fairways
There’s no formal dress code, so you can come straight from work. You can walk, use a pull cart or rent a golf cart.
Warm up first
Hit a small bucket on the driving range before you tee off, and use the chipping green with bunkers to get a feel for the short game. Ten minutes of warm-up makes a big difference on the first tee.
Play more for less
If you’d play more than a handful of rounds a season, look at a membership. At $14 a round, an adult membership at $525 pays for itself after about 38 rounds, and every round after that is free.
Tee times
We’re walk-on friendly, so tee times aren’t always required. Calling ahead at (734) 888-1020 is still smart, especially on weekends. See the course page for more, and we’ll see you on the first tee.
